Paris Peralta is arrested in her home, in her own bathroom, found holding the straight razor that killed her famous dead husband. Paris knows this doesn’t look good. But despite the situation at hand, Paris is less worried about being charged for her husband’s murder than the press leaking her image and bringing her past life back to get her. Paris has been no stranger to reinventing herself and despite the murder trial she faces ahead in Portland, she knows what she left behind in Toronto years ago has far worse consequences. After all these years Paris knows her time to confront her past has come, because what’s worse than one murder charge is two.
A fast paced read; this novel delivered on its promise. This was one of my favorite books this year. Although I’m generous in giving books four star reviews, I’m selective with my five stars. This is one of the first this year that truly blew me away. The story was exciting and fresh, with unexpected twists throughout. I was locked in on the main character from the early pages and flipped back and forth between wondering what happened in her past to what really happened in her present. I didn’t guess the final conclusion to either story and I loved every minute of it. A great new novel well worth a read.
Really enjoyed this book. Felt anxious to get to the end and see how it all wrapped up. I loved how all the pieces came together in the end of the story!
I am reading this now. Will report back
